At Step It Up Dance Academy, we believe dance is about so much more than learning steps. Our mission is to inspire confidence, creativity, discipline, and a lifelong love of dance in every student who walks through our doors.

Current Opportunities

We are currently hiring instructors for the 2026-2027 dance season in the following styles:

• Hip Hop

• Pom

Applicants may apply to teach one style or both.

Current openings include classes for three age groups:

• Ages 6-8

• Ages 9-11

• Ages 12+

We are primarily looking to fill our older age groups, with additional classes available for the right candidate.

Position Responsibilities

As a Step It Up instructor, you will be responsible for creating a fun, positive, and engaging classroom environment while helping dancers build confidence and technique.

Responsibilities include:

• Planning and teaching weekly 45-minute classes

• Preparing age-appropriate lesson plans

• Teaching proper technique and fundamentals

• Choreographing an end-of-season recital routine for each assigned class

• Selecting appropriate, family-friendly music

• Assisting with costume selection for recital performances

• Communicating with studio staff regarding class planning and student progress

• Creating a positive, encouraging atmosphere where every dancer feels successful

Music editing experience is a bonus but is not required.

What We're Looking For

Ideal candidates have experience in one or more of the following:

• Hip Hop

• Pom

• Dance Team/Cheer

• Choreography

• Dance instruction

 

Teaching experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to mentor the right candidate who has strong dance experience, a willingness to learn, and a passion for teaching.

• Passionate about helping dancers grow both inside and outside the classroom

Most importantly, we are looking for instructors who can teach, not simply demonstrate choreography. We value educators who can break down skills, encourage progress, and inspire confidence in every dancer.

Schedule

Classes are currently planned for Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, with each class lasting approximately 45 minutes.

Our class schedule is still being finalized, and we are happy to work around the instructor's availability whenever possible.

Season Commitment

Instructors are expected to commit to the full dance season, which runs from September 2026 through May 2027.

Compensation

Compensation is competitive and based on experience and qualifications.

For instructors commuting from outside the Grand Island area, mileage reimbursement is available.
