At Step It Up Dance Academy, we offer a diverse range of dance classes suitable for all ages and skill levels. Our experienced instructors are passionate about helping each dancer reach their full potential while having a fun and rewarding experience. Choosing the right class is key to your dancer's growth and enjoyment. Browse our class offerings below to find the perfect fit for your student's age, level, interests, and aspirations.
We believe in quality over quantity, providing small classes with personalized attention to ensure each dancer receives the guidance they need to succeed. Our approach focuses on developing "smart dancers" who build a strong technical foundation through careful progressions and step introductions tailored to their age and comprehension. By emphasizing proper technique and execution, we help students develop good dance habits that will serve them well in their dance journey.

Classes for dancers are determined by dancers age/school grade, experience, and level ability. Dancers must reach the minimum age for class by September 1st, 2025 in order to register for classes in that age group for the 25.26 dance year. Dancers who miss the age cut-off may take classes in age track for their current age at the start of the season

Acro
Acrobatic Dance, incorporates tumbling, limbering, balance, strength and flexibility skills with the beauty and execution of dance. Safety and proper form are of utmost importance in our acrobatic training program. Dancers will learn the proper technique and execution of backbends, cartwheels, round-offs, back walk-overs and hand stands while working towards ariels, back hand springs
Ballet
The basis of all dance forms. Ballet training provides a solid technical foundation, building strength, poise, and proper alignment. Through barre work, center exercises, and across-the-floor combinations, dancers develop essential skills transferable to all dance styles, laying the groundwork for growth and success in dance.
Clogging
Clogging is a type of folk dance that uses percussive footwork through the striking of either a heal or a toe in order to create audible rhythms. Clogging is a unique style of dance and while it is influenced by and similar to Tap, it is oh-so-unique and fun to watch. A true favorite, if you like rhythm, sound and moving fast, you’ll love clogging! It’s a very energetic form of dance.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music. Hip hop involves more freestyle than other dance genres. It is a popular, energetic dance style of funk moves, basic break dance grooves, stalls, and tricks! This high energy class will be full of upbeat, fun music and moves, students are introduced to rhythm, musicality, control, dynamics, and performance.
Jazz
Jazz is a fun, upbeat dance style. It uses traditional technique along with upbeat music to perform various movements, turns, and leaps. Jazz styles ranges from commercial jazz to traditional, Broadway “Fosse” style. Dancers will learn proper fundamental technique, progressions across-the floor- and inspiring short combinations of choreography, with emphasis on developing style, and performance quality.

Lyrical
Lyrical expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, contemporary, and classical ballet. Lyrical dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Lyrical dance is generally a little more fluid than ballet and also somewhat faster. This class focuses on self-expression through improv, across the floor exercises, and short combinations of choreography.

Leaps & Turns
Leaps and turns class focuses on technique required to learn element skills that come with dance. Our technique program is built on working drills, and progressions that allow dancers to grow with proper execution of jumps, leaps, kicks, and turning dance elements. This class is a technique only class and will not perform in the recital. This class is great for dancers looking for a little extra practice on their skills.

Mini
Acro/Hip Hop
Take your favorite food pairing and compare it to this combo class. The two were meant to be! Students will learn primary acro and primary hip hop technique in this fun-filled combo session designed specifically for preschool and kindergarten aged kids. Dancers will have one dance in recital that combines both styles in one routine!

Mini Tap/Ballet/Jazz
This combo class combines introducing Tap, Ballet, and Jazz techniques in a single, fun action-packed class. Designed specifically for preschool and kindergarten aged kids, this class is perfect for tiny dancers eager to explore and learn different genres of dance! Dancers will begin each class with ballet, then alternate between tap and jazz styles each week. Dancers in this class will perform two dances in the recital.

Pom
Pom dance is a high energy blend of jazz, hip hop, and dance team/cheer techniques. Pom dancing focuses on precise, synchronized motions along with technical dance skills (such as jumps, kicks, turns, and leaps) This is a great class for those who inspire to be on high school cheer or dance teams one day!

Pointe
Pointe is an advancement of ballet training. Students will utilize previously learned ballet technique while working in pointe shoes. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work and across the floor combinations. These exercises focus on strengthening the feet and ankles. Placement is offered by instructor referral to dancers 11 years of age and older, taking a weekly ballet and PBT class. Must have 4 or more consecutive years of ballet training to be evaluated. This is a technique only class, and will not perform in the recital.

Progressing Ballet Technique
PBT is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program for students to understand the depth of training muscle memory in achieving their personal best. One of the important elements used in the PBT method is muscle memory which helps to improve students' understanding of core stability, weight placement and alignment. PBT is extremely beneficial to dancers wanting to improve their technique in Acro, Ballet, Jazz, or Lyrical classes. This is a technique only class, and will not perform in the recital.

Stretch & Strength
This class will train your body to advance yourself as a dancer. It includes high intensity workouts, strength training, resistance, and deep stretching. It will build the dancer’s strength to prevent injury along with increasing their flexibility. This class is great for dancers wanting to increase their flexibility. This is a technique only class, and will not perform in the recital.

Tap
Tap focuses on rhythms and patterns in footwork through proper technique, as well as personal style and producing clear sounds. This class will cover progressions to tap fundamentals. Dancers will be taken through warmups, rhythmic introductions, and fun choreography to captivating energetic music.

Tiny Tots
This is an introductory class for those tiny movers who are just starting their first class! Dancers will stretch, learn music movement, following directions and basic dance steps. Props, fun music, and lots of singing, playing and dancing are included in this fun interactive creative class. We encourage dancers independence in attending this class after the first few weeks.
Technique only classes pair well with select recreational classes and are encouraged to be taken additionally to recreational classes. These classes are for dancers looking to level up their technique and skills outside the traditional class. Technique only classes will not participate in recital.
